Sony take on Blomkamps Chappie

With Neil Blomkamps new sci-fi action film Elysium coming out next week (review coming soon), Sony have decided to take on his next film Chappie. Chappie is based on a short film directed by Blomkamp about a rabbit eared police robot. This concept seems strange but you can always trust him with science fiction so just have some hope. 

He has already announced that Sharlto Copley will be returning to work with him as the robot and will be joined by Dev Pattel. Sony will be financially aiding this film along with MRC studios who backed Elysium. 

According to Blomkamp Chappie is a "ridiculous robot character", which could mean that we may be in store for a humorous black comedy sci-fi movie. The plot is still a bit of a mystery other then a hint revealed about it maybe being about two local gangsters stealing the bots artificial intelligence for their own nefarious purposes.
