2 guns review

Director- Baltasar Kormákur
Cast- Denzel Washington
         Mark Wahlberg
         Paula Patton
         Bill Paxton
2 guns is a film starring Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington directed by the man behind Marky Marks last thriller Contraband. 2 guns actually turns out to be a increasingly entertaining thrill ride that never really slows down to let the audience think. Mark Wahlberg plays the typical ladies man character as he winks and makes idiotic comments that both humour and entertain the audience as they marvel at his idiocies. Denzel Washington unsurprisingly plays his polar opposite as he is a smooth, smart and rather cunning character who is the wiser of the pair.

Despite this typical buddy movie layout, it is Bill Paxton who steals the show as a heavily corrupt, or just psychotic and exceedingly determined CIA Agent. I won't go any further with the plot as it is a film best seen without watching the trailers first.

This brings me to my first main criticism of the film; there are too many twists and turns throughout the film. This can cause for both confusion and annoyance as the film progresses into being predictable instead of clever and original. The other criticism is that the first half of the film Ida bit of a mess. This can also cause complications with the opening scenes as they are intertwined in a way that is similar to a shaky camera fight scene.

All in all, 2 guns is a very entertaining, surprisingly humorous and a good bit of fun, that nicely takes up 2 hours of your time. This is easily worth watching, and especially worth looking into.

7/10
